Alabama archives’ chief curator on names for the Civil War

Bob Bradley, chief curator at the Alabama state archives, shared more than 50 names for the war during a talk he gave Thursday on events that led up to the great conflict, which started 150 years ago this spring, according to this  story by Birmingham News reporter David White.

Bradley said he took many names from “Our Incredible Civil War,” a book by the late journalist and historian Burke Davis.  Some names Bradley said he picked up while doing research over the years.

“It’s like collecting baseball cards: ‘Oh, there’s another name for the war,'” he said.
