Talks on archaeological studies at Pickett’s Mill and common soldiers will be featured Feb. 5 at the second annual Civil War Western Theater Lecture Series at Dalton State College in Georgia.
The event is presented by the Bandy Heritage Center for Northwest Georgia at Dalton State and is in conjunction with the Chickamauga Civil War Trade Show at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.
Dr. Terry Powis, assistant professor of anthropology at Kennesaw State University, will speak at 2:00 p.m. on “New Archaeological Studies at Georgia’s Civil War Sites: Pickett’s Mill.”
Historian and author Richard McMurry will speak at 3:30 p.m. on “The Common Soldier of the American Civil War.”
The Eighth Regiment Band of Rome, Ga., will perform at concert at 5 p.m.
These events are free and will be held in the lecture hall.
Admission to the Chickamauga Civil War Trade Show is $8.
There’s also a Civil War-themed dinner at 7 p.m.
