Book signing and talk on Thursday to feature Dr. Ethel Hall

Ethel Hall, a former member of the Alabama Board of Education, is the featured speaker during a book signing event Thursday at the Alabama Department of Archives and History, 624 Washington Ave. in Montgomery.
 

 

In  My Journey: A Memoir of the First African American to Preside Over the Alabama Board of Education, Hall recounts her journey from farmer’s daughter to first black woman elected to the state Board of Education. She served more than two decades on the board.

Copies of her book will be available for purchase.

The event is at noon and participants can bring a sack lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided by the Friends of the Alabama Archives.
