Mobile is the mother of Mardi Gras in the U.S., with 1703 marking the first time it was celebrated by French colonists.
Children can make their own Mardi Gras masks with sequins, feathers and other materials at the Museum in the Mornings program on Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
A free, docent-led tour of the museum will follow at 11 a.m. The free activity is from 9-11 a.m.
The museum and the archives’ research room are open on the Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
