The Bessemer Hall of History Museum and the Service League will celebrate the publication of a new book, “Early Bessemer,” on Thursday, Nov. 17.
Author Jason Burnett, who wrote the book on the museum’s behalf, will be at the museum, 1905 Alabama Ave., from 5-8 p.m. Burnett will meet the public and signed copies of the book will be for sale. Proceeds of the book’s sale will help support the museum.
“Early Bessemer” includes almost 200 photographs from the museum’s collection. Most of the pictures were taken during the city’s first 50 years but a few date from before the city’s founding in 1887. Copies are available at area retailers and bookstores, online and through the publisher at http://www.arcadiapublishing.com or at 888-313-2665.
The book is part of Arcadia Publishing’s popular “Images of America” series, which uses archival pictures to illustrate local history across the country.
