Archbishop Emeritus Oscar H. Lipscomb of the Diocese of Mobile will be the speaker on Wednesday, March 14 at the Museum of Mobile.
The archbishop’s noon talk will be “Michael Portier, Mobile’s First Archbishop.” Portier, born in 1795 in France, came to America in 1817. He died in 1859 in Mobile, having served as bishop for 30 years.
The talks are part of the museum’s monthly Learning Lunch, a lunchtime discussion series. Participants can bring a sack lunch and enjoy complimentary beverages.
The museum is at 111 South Royal St. in Mobile.
