Wallace State in Hanceville to offer genealogical seminars this summer

A series of genealogical seminars will be offered this summer at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, the college’s genealogy program director, Robert S. Davis, said.

Classes are from 9 a.m.- 2p.m. The cost is $35 for any or all of seminars. Participants can register and pay at the class. For more information, call Davis at 256-352-8265.

Classes will be taught in the college library, depending on available space. Hanceville is near Cullman, Alabama, about a 45-minute drive north of Birmingham.

Davis is a distinguished historian, well-known in genealogical circles. The genealogical collection he’s assembled over the years is one of Alabama’s little-known treasure troves of information.

Here’s the seminar schedule:

June 8-9:  Introduction to Genealogy

June 22:  Southern Genealogy

June 23:  Civil War Genealogy

July 13:  Advanced Genealogy
