Historic Shelby County, Ala. is marking its 195th birthday with a celebration on Feb. 3.
The free party, from 1:30-3 p.m., will be at the Shelby County Museum & Archives, in the 1854 Old Courthouse in Columbiana.
Robert G. Thrower, Jr., tribal historic preservation officer for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, will be the speaker. His topic will be, “Between Two Worlds.”
Steve Murray, the new director of the state Department of Archives and History, is expected to attend, as are other dignitaries and officials.
