The Gardendale Historical Society will meet Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Gardendale Martha Moore Library.

The 10 a.m. meeting will feature Cathy Adams, who will give a talk about Birmingham’s Robert Jemison.

 The society won’t meet in December, but will be back in January. ¶

Architreats at the Archives this Thursday

The ArchiTreats: Food for Thought series continues its series of talks on Alabama history Thursday, Nov. 18 at the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
 
We Must do it Ourselves: The Rationale for Black Business Development in Montgomery, 1900-1925, is the talk that will be presented by historian Howard Robinson.
  
The lecture series is made possible by the Friends of the Alabama Archives. The public is invited to bring a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided.
